‘Penguin Blue and his friends are in for a surprise! And it all starts with a windy day and a brand new kite… Come fly away with Penguin Blue as he gets caught in a gust of wind and the adventure begins.’

Flautist Meera Maharaj, narrator Polly Ives and creative practitioner Sarah Carroll bring new music composed by award-winning Paul Rissmann and based on the book by Rob Biddulph. We’re also working with the digital animator Vic Craven for the first time to bring the illustrations to life. With fun actions and songs to join in with and a relaxed and friendly environment, this is a perfect introduction to music, animation and storytelling.

Blown Away is written by Rob Biddulph and is published by HarperCollins Children’s Books.

This piece was commissioned by Concerteenies (2023).

This project is funded by: the Foyle Foundation, the Freshgate Trust Foundation, the J G Graves Trust, the PRS Foundation, the Vaughan Williams Foundation, and the Sheffield Church Burgesses Educational Trust

Co-created with children and teachers at Beck Primary School and Whiteways Primary School. Creative team: Polly Ives, Sarah Carroll, Meera Maharaj, Paul Rissmann and Annabelle Lawson. With thanks to Sheffield Music Hub.
