Concerteenies for Babies: Mambo Jambo

  • Highfield Adventure Playground Crowther Place Sheffield, England, S7 1BJ United Kingdom (map)

This concert is part of Sheffield Family Hubs launch day on the 14th of June at Highfield Adventure Playground. Concerteenies is providing musical fun at many family hubs across the city - find out more.

Concerteenies for Babies is designed to relax and reinvigorate parents/carers and create special bonding moments with their babies through specially tailored musical and sensory activities. Listen to high-quality live music in a calm, welcoming environment with buggy access, nappy changing facilities, cups of tea or coffee and breastfeeding is welcome. This Youth Music-funded project (2023-2024) enables us to work with four new community groups across the city and aims to interact with new, diverse and often underserved communities. This series is in partnership with Sheffield City Council's Sharrow Family Hub.

Sheffield’s Family Hub works with a wide range of partners who all work together to provide help and support to families. They offer support for families such as preparing for a new baby, Parent/Carer baby and toddler groups, 1:1 support, access to a variety of short courses and links to other support services in your local community such as housing and benefit advice.

There will be a University of Leeds researcher present at this concert. Together we are investigating the impact of our events so they will observe throughout the concert and we will ask for your feedback after sessions. Participation in the research is not compulsory. Please speak to a member of staff if you do not want to be included.

Mambo Jambo might just be the biggest acoustic duo you’ll ever see, a truly unique two-piece with their own rhythmic and joyful sound, a dozen or more instruments, male/female harmony vocals, a friendly stage presence, and a seemingly endless variety of roots, world, folk and jazz styles up their sleeves – Pete and Frankie have been gathering admirers at shows and festivals the length and breadth of the country. A fabulous musical treat is in store wherever they roll up, their tour bus packed to the brim with sax, guitars, banjo, clarinet, flute, accordion, Cuban tres, Brazilian ukulele, all kinds of percussion including suitcase and spoons, plus another instrument or two if they find room – all expertly played!

Tickets are not required for this concert.
