Little Moments of Joy

In December 2020, we worked in partnership with Age Better in Sheffield and paired 750 children and Simply Strings Trio to create personalised musical performances that were shown in 32 care homes over the Christmas period.

Many older people lived in isolation during 2020, with very little contact with their communities or access to stimulating external creative activities due to the coronavirus. For young children, December would normally be a busy time of nativity performances and Christmas carol concerts, but most schools have had to cancel these due to government guidance.

Little Moments of Joy aimed to combat both of these issues by providing a creative outlet for young children and a moment of distraction and happiness for older people and their carers. We hope that this project has helped all the participants and recipients to feel a little better at the end of what was a very challenging year for all, regardless of age.
