Musical Stories - Mixed | 1.30pm, 11th June

  • Broomhill Methodist Church Fulwood Road Sheffield, England, S10 3BD United Kingdom (map)

Join harpist Louise Thomson and narrator Polly Ives for a magical adaptation of Arree Chung’s children’s book, Mixed, set to music by Paul Rissmann. This event is for 0-7 year-olds and their grown-ups as part of Broomhill Festival.

The Blues, Reds and Yellows lived in harmony. However, when one of the colours proclaims they are the best, discord breaks out and the colours decide to live in different parts of the city. Then one day a Yellow befriends a Blue and they become inseparable, discovering a world of different possibilities and colours.

In this engaging experience for 0-7 year olds and their grown-ups which combines well-loved harp music with creative story-telling, Polly and Louise perform a new musical version of ‘Mixed’ based on the original book written and illustrated by Arree Chung, and published by Macmillan Publishing Group.

The exciting new music for harp is composed by Paul Rissmann as part of a new commissions project by Concerteenies thanks to an Arts Council England grant in 2021.

This new musical adaptation by composer Paul Rissmann is based on the book by Chinese American author/illustrator Arree Chung.

Sensory elements (bubbles, scarves and percussion), audience participation and vivid illustrations from the book will engage, inspire and entertain little and older audiences.
