Energetic storytelling, bubbles and music!

Join narrator Polly Ives with harpist Louise Thomson for a vibrant reimagining of Mixed, for children aged 3-7.

"In the beginning, there were three colours... Reds, Yellows and Blues. All special in their own ways, all living in harmony - until one day, a Red says "Reds are the best!" and starts a colour kerfuffle. When the colours decide to separate, is there anything that can change their minds?

With original music composed by Paul Rissmann, Concerteenies Musical Stories concerts are a lively mix of stories, image projection and audience participation. They are centred around stunning performances from professional musicians in a relaxed environment. The concert also includes harp music by Grandjany, Henshall and Tournier.

Winner of the Harp Finals at the 2003 Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales Competition, and finalist in the 2005 London International Harp Competition, Louise Thomson has gone on to forge a prestigious and varied solo career. A versatile and experienced musician, Louise’s playing has taken her to concert halls around the UK including the Royal Albert Hall, Cardiff’s St David’s Hall and the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. She has performed live on Radio 3, and on BBC Television with soprano Katherine Jenkins. In addition to her solo work, Louise recently launched a new collaboration with young vocal ensemble the Corvus Consort, featuring music for upper voices and harp. In 2022 Louise was selected to perform at the World Harp Congress, in collaboration with presenter Polly Ives. Louise also takes great pride in her harp teaching, which includes posts at Chetham’s School of Music, Huddersfield University, RNCM and JRNCM.

Polly Ives is one of the UK’s leading music educationalists with a varied portfolio as a concert presenter, narrator, promoter, workshop leader, trainer and cellist. She regularly performs alongside London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Mozart Players and Ensemble 360, Wigmore Hall. She has worked with CBeebies and performed on BBC Radio 3 and Scala Radio. She is also Founder and Creative Director of Concerteenies. 2022 highlights include working with Bournemuoth Symphony Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, the Aldeburgh Festival for the first time and exciting new developments with Concerteenies!
