  • Barnsley Civic Hanson Street Barnsley, England, S70 2HZ United Kingdom (map)

This performance is at Barnsley Civic and feature BSL interpretation from Famlingo.

Energetic storytelling, bubbles and music!
Join narrator Polly Ives with percussionist Matthew Brett on the marimba for a vibrant reimagining of popular book The Dog Who Could Dig, for children aged 3-7.

"Digger is a very determined dog. He has started looking for the bone that he buried and he just won't stop digging. Deeper and deeper he goes, unearthing all sorts of extraordinary things - an old shoe, a coal-miner, and even an underground train. But he's also getting hungrier and hungrier - will Digger ever find something to chew on for his dinner?"

With original music composed by Paul Rissmann, Concerteenies Musical Stories concerts are a lively mix of stories, image projection and audience participation.
They are centred around stunning performances from professional musicians in a relaxed environment. The concert also features extracts from Yellow After the Rain by Mitchell Peters, A Little Prayer by Evelyn Glennie and an improvisation based on Chatterbox by Chad Floyd.

Polly Ives is one of the UK’s leading music educationalists with a varied portfolio as a concert presenter, narrator, promoter, workshop leader, trainer and cellist. She regularly produces and presents children’s concerts alongside many highly renowned orchestras, ensembles and soloists (including London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Mozart Players and Ensemble 360) and with the leading arts organisations and venues in the UK (including the Southbank Centre, Wigmore Hall, Sheffield Theatres and Royal Opera House).  She has worked with CBeebies, BBC Radio 3 and Scala Radio.

The Dog Who Could Dig is by Jonathan Long and Korky Paul.
